Brenda O. Bateman Assumes National Presidency of AWRA
MIDDLEBURG, VA, JANUARY 1, 2018
AWRA is pleased to announce that Brenda O. Bateman, technical services division administrator for the Oregon Water Resources Department, began her tenure as president of the national organization on January 1, 2018. She succeeds Rafael Frias, III, client director with Black & Veatch Corporation, who transitioned to his role as immediate past-president.

During 2018, Bateman will represent AWRA at the World Water Forum in Brasilia, Brazil, and will lead the National Board of Directors in its search for AWRA’s new staff executive.
AWRA is also happy to confirm that Lisa Beutler, executive facilitator at Stantec, Sacramento, CA, assumed her seat as president-elect on January 1, 2018; as did newly elected AWRA National Board of Directors members Lisa Engelman, LB Engelman Consulting, LLC; and Scott Kudlas, director of the Office of Water Supply at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
“It is a tremendous honor and privilege to serve in a leadership role for the American Water Resources Association,” commented Beutler when asked her reaction to being voted president-elect. “AWRA is the leader in advancing multi-disciplinary water management approaches. More than ever, the integrated water resources management skills and perspectives long championed by AWRA will be essential to addressing the nation and world's water challenges.”
