President's Message | November/December 2022
With 2022 and the AWRA Annual Water Resources Conference in the rearview
mirror, we can look forward to 2023. I must say I am
inspired by what our future holds for us. You are part of
making our planet a healthy place, and I thank you for all
of your hard work to that end.
Seeing everyone in November was a breath of fresh
air. After all we’ve been through in the past two years, I’m
grateful for an in-person event. Yes, we can work online
with Zoom, Google Meet, and Jamboards, but in-person
conversations around coffee, impromptu brainstorming
sessions, and chances to explore new communities bring
an irreplaceable je ne sais quoi to our work.
I am excited to pass the torch to Dr. Jason Zhang, who
will serve as AWRA president for 2023. Jason and I started
on the AWRA Board of Directors the same year (this was
pre-Covid), and, oh my, it still feels like yesterday. Jason is
a passionate leader whose work in water resources is an
inspiration for us all. The coming year will be an exciting
one for AWRA members, with conferences scheduled in
Denver this summer and in Raleigh in the fall.
I wish you all the best and a healthy 2023!
Claire Bleser is the 2022 president of AWRA.
