Call for Abstracts

Abstracts are being sought for conference oral and poster presentations and panels (see list of topics). Abstracts must be received on or before March 18, 2019.  English is the official language for both abstracts and presentations.  To be considered for placement in the program, please use this link to start the abstract submittal process.  Abstracts will be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee for originality, technical merit, currency, and relevance to the Conference topics.  Note that presenters for all accepted abstracts must pay the appropriate conference registration fee. Participants can propose Topical Sessions consistent with the conference theme. Those wishing to do so will solicit abstracts although the individuals solicited will submit the abstracts themselves and must pay the appropriate registration fee.  Proposers must gain the approval of the proposed session from the Technical Co-chairs. Please contact the Technical Co-Chairs (Dr. Zhuping Sheng, [email protected], Dr. Shaofeng Jia, [email protected]) as soon as possible but no later than February 15, 2019. 

PLEASE NOTE: If you are sending abstracts and you are from China, you must email your abstract directly the Planning Committee.

Abstract Submission Instructions

• Abstracts must be submitted via the form on AWRA’s online portal. 
• Membership in AWRA is encouraged but is not required for presentation.
• The following information needs to be included:
  • Name, title, employer affiliation, full mailing address, email address, phone and fax numbers of the main contact and the presenting author. 
  • Name, affiliation and email address of co-authors.
  • Type of presentation: oral, poster, either oral or poster, panel
  • Abstract Title
  • Abstract (350 words or less)

Review of Abstracts and Notification of Acceptance

After the submission deadline, abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee for originality, technical merit, currency, and relevance to the conference topics. Authors' suggestions for topic and format placement (oral, panel or poster) will be considered, but the Committee will make the final decision. The quality of the submitted abstract will be viewed as an indication of the quality of the presentation. Previous performance or failure to give timely notification of cancellation at previous annual and specialty conferences may influence the decision for acceptance. Abstracts received after the deadline may not be considered or accepted.

Acceptance notification will be made via email to the presenting author. Submitted and accepted abstracts will be available for viewing in the AWRA Conference App.  All conference attendees, including presenters, must pay the conference registration fee.

Post-conference Publication

Selected authors may be invited to submit their papers to be considered for publication in a featured collection of Journal of American Water Resources Association (SCI indexed journal). All papers will be peer-reviewed according to JAWRA publication requirements. This task will be carried out by Publishing Committee Chairs/Guest Editors.

Cancellation Policy

Before submitting an abstract, authors should be confident that they will have funding to pay the registration fee, attend the meeting, and make the presentation. If the presenter finds he/she cannot attend then they should attempt to find another person to make the presentation. Late cancellations and failures to give scheduled presentations are disruptive and leave gaps in the program that are distracting to all attendees. If cancellation is unavoidable, the presenter should notify the AWRA office at [email protected] by August 16, 2019. Cancellations made after this date will be assessed a cancellation fee.
