Snowbird Stormwater Management Walking Tour
Tuesday, May 2, 5:15 PM to 6:30 PM
Cost: Free

Come join us as we take a walk through the Snowbird Resort and learn about its unique storm water management features. In addition to being an ideal location for world class skiing, Little Cottonwood Canyon is also a drinking water source for Salt Lake City. Thus managing Snowbird's storm water quality is essential to ensure that Salt Lake City has a clean and reliable water supply. Keith Hansen, General Manager of Salt Lake County Service Area #3, will lead us on a walking tour of Snowbird Resort's unique storm water management features, and the Wasatch Drain Tunnel. The Drain Tunnel was constructed during the period of 1912 to 1916 by Wasatch Mines Company, and is now one of the water sources for Snowbird, Utah, providing water for domestic uses, as well as snowmaking and electrical power plant (co-generation) cooling. You can learn more about Salt Lake County Service Area #3 and the Drain Tunnel by going to http://www.canyonwater.com . This is a walking tour so participants should wear comfortable shoes and clothing. There is no charge for the tour but you must register for it in advance.
